You Caught My Eye

Bay Mare

In Foal to American Pharoah

Booked to Improbable in 2021

In-foal to Justify

Sire: Can the Man

Dam:  Halo River by Irish River

Foaled 2016

You Caught My Eye is a very exciting new addition to the CGF broodmare band. Not only is she a half-sister to the Canadian champion and multiple Grade 1 winner Catch a Glimpse (by City Zip), she is also a half-sister to Old Forester, a Grade 3 winner who was leading sire in Canada on 5 occasions.

On top of all that, she is in-foal to Triple Crown winner American Pharoah, who is currently the leading 3rd crop sire in North American and has already sired Grade 1 winners in each of his first 2 crops.

Improbable was the leading older horse in the country in 2020, racking up Grade 1 wins from coast to coast. He was also a top class 2 year old and 3 year old, going off as the favorite in the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes. He is a son of City Zip, so the resulting foal will be very closely related to Champion Catch a Glimpse.

Prado's Sweet Ride

Bay Mare

Booked to Into Mischief in 2021

In-foal to Justify

Sire: Fort Prado

Dam:  Excellent Idea by General Meeting

Foaled 2012

Prado’s Sweet Ride is one of the star new additions to the Coteau Grove broodmare band. She was an incredible racemare, winning 8 times in 32 starts, earning $559,000. She was a graded stakes winner on both dirt and turf, indicating both tremendous ability and versatility, 2 huge factors in today’s racing and breeding industries. A big, great looking individual, Prado’s Sweet Ride has already proven she can throw exceptional offspring, as her first foal by Speightstown sold for $340,000 last November, the highest priced offering by that stallion.

Prado’s Sweet Ride’s attributes and race record allowed her to gain a prized spot in the book of champion sire Into Mischief, far and away the best stallion in North America and one of the best in the world. Into Mischief sired the winners of over $22 million in 2020 alone, including 12 individual graded stakes winners.

Gold Souk

Dark Bay or Brown Mare

In foal to Speightstown,

Sire: Medaglia d’Oro

A $650,000 weanling herself, she is a half-sister to the superstar mare Miss Temple City (sold for $2.5 million) and the graded stakes winner Pricedtoperfection (sold for $775,000). Her yearling half brother by French sire Almanzor sold for $330,000 earlier this year. Miss Temple City’s first 2 foals are by global giants War Front and Frankel, so there is every possibility that this already stellar pedigree will continue to expand in the coming years.

Gold Souk is in-foal to the legendary Speightstown, carrying a foal bred on the same cross as G1 winners Rock Fall and Competitionofideas.

Gold Souk is due in late April so will be left open for 2021. She could potentially be sent to Europe to be bred in 2022!

Harlie's Dream

Dark Bay or Brown Mare

Booked to Complexity 2021

Sire: Pleasant Tap

Dam: Zarb’s Fancy by Zarbyev

Foaled 2007

Harlie’s Dreams was a heck of a racehorse, earning almost $400k on the track. She is one of the best looking mares on the farm and has thrown great foals so far. She had some bad luck early in her broodmare career, losing twins twice. Her first baby is now a 2-year-old named Weyu (by Speightster) which we sold for $60k as a yearling in 2019. She recently had her first works at Fair Grounds with Lee Thomas for leading owner Keith Plaisance and will hopefully be a productive racehorse in 2021.

Her yearling by Custom for Carlos was the highest priced yearling by the sire in 2020, selling for $31,000 to leading Louisiana trainer Scott Gelner. Her current weanling by McCraken is another excellent physical specimen that we have strong hopes for in 2021.

Harlie’s Dreams is currently not in-foal for 2021 (she was bred to the LA sire El Deal but did not conceive)

Complexity is one of the most exciting new stallions to enter stud in 2021. A Grade 1 winning 2 year old by the rising sire Maclean’s Music, Complexity was the most expensive yearling by his sire ever at auction. He won his debut at Saratoga by open lengths in fast time and came back in his second start to win the G1 Champagne Stakes at Belmont Park. He returned at 4 this year to win the G2 Kelso Handicap at Belmont and was a close 4th in the Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile (G1) at Keeneland. He is booked full for 2021.

Foaled 2011

Gypsy Princess is a daughter of the champion broodmare sire Unbridled’s Song. His daughters have produced 187 stakes winners to date! Buffythecenterfold was a multiple graded stakes winner of over $527k.Gypsy Princess has a yearling filly by Point of Entry that was a $160k yearling at Fasig-Tipton October ’20, so there is considerable upside in this mare if that offspring goes onto be a good runner. That horse will be trained by leading trainer Brad Cox, who won 4 Breeders’ Cup races in 2020! She is currently in-foal to a promising young son of Candy Ride – Unified. He has his first crop of runners hit the racetrack in ’21.

Gypsy Princess is booked for 2021 to the exciting new stallion Instagrand, a G2 winning son of the all- conquering Into Mischief! Instagrand was the best 2-year-old in the country in 2018.

Bonaca

Dark Bay or Brown Mare

Booked to Munnings 2021

Sire: Kitten’s Joy

Dam: Senada by Pulpit

Foaled 2017

Bonaca is a young mare with a big pedigree and lots of upside for the future. She is by leading sire Kitten’s Joy, one of the best global stallions of the past decade. Her half-sister Layla Noor sold for $660,000 to Shadai Farm in Book 1 of the November sale. Her mother Senada was a stakes winner at Keeneland and graded stakes placed at Keeneland and Saratoga. Further down the pedigree, her mother’s full sister produced the current stakes winner Gingham, who sold for $1 million in book 1 to Claiborne Farm.

Munnings has established himself as one of the most affordable, proven stallions in the business. A son of the legendary sire Speightstown, Munnings has had a banner year in 2020, with graded stakes winners Venetian Harbor, Bonny South, Finite, Warrior’s Charge etc to his name this year. He is currently ranked 7th in the nation in earnings. He has already sired the stakes winners Free Rose, Barkley and Lake Sebago on the same cross as Bonaca. He gives Bonaca a great shot at getting a commercial foal right off the bat with a great opportunity to become a stakes performer from the get go.

Gottahaveaholiday

Bay Mare

Booked to Quality Road 2021

Sire: Harlan’s Holiday

Dam: Gottahaveadream by Indian Charlie

Foaled 2014

Gottahaveholiday has an exciting, current pedigree, as her younger 3/4 sister Dayoutoftheoffice is one of the top 2-year-old fillies in 2020. Since the November catalog was printed, she won the Grade 1 Frizette Stakes at Belmont and finished 2nd in the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies. She looks set to be one of the top 3 year old fillies in the country next year.

Gottahaveadream herself placed multiple times in top company on the east coast. She was a $230,000 yearling and possesses the size and good looks we are looking for.

Quality Road is one of the elite sires in the U.S. His fee has been reduced from $200k in 2020 and offers great value relative to what is in the pipeline. For a young stallion, he has already achieved incredible results on the racetrack and in the sales ring. He has sired 11 Grade 1 winners in his first crop, and looks poised for further success with what is coming in his next few crops. Among his top performers are Kentucky Oaks winner Abel Tasman, multiple Grade 1 winner and exciting young stallion City of Light, and additional G1 winners Bellafina, Caledonia Road, Dunbar Road, Klimt, etc.
